Biography:  Rev. Dr. Joseph B. Fields, Jr.

 Mt. Nebo Baptist Church was founded in 1867 under the leadership of Reverend Freeman Fitzgerald.  Throughout its rich history, Mt. Nebo has been led by great preachers and staunch religious leaders who contributed to the growth of the church.  The Reverend Dr. Joseph B. Fields, Jr.  is the seventh pastor of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.

   Rev.  Fields, after serving in Vietnam, was called to the ministry in 1972 and was licensed to preach the gospel.  Rev. Fields was ordained at the Mount Poole Baptist Church in 1975 under the pastor, Reverend William H. Mickens.   He was then called to pastor the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ford, VA, in June 1975, where he is still the past for over 33 years.  In March, 1980, he was called to the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA, and is still the past for over 28 years. 

Rev. Fields is a 1976 graduate of The Richard Bland college of William and Mary, Petersburg, VA, earning an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, and a 1985 graduate of Virginia State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Automobile Technology.  He also studied at Virginia Union University seminary and Richmond Virginia Seminary, both in Richmond, VA.  Rev. Fields obtained his Master of Divinity Degree and his Doctor of Biblical Exegesis Degree From Frederick L. Ray Biblical Institute, Woodbridge, VA. 

 The Reverend Doctor Joseph B. Fields, Jr., is present Moderator of the Ebenezer Baptist Association and the Vice President of the United Churches of Dinwiddie County, Dinwiddie, VA.  He has also served an educator in Dinwiddie and Nottoway County public school systems in Virginia. 

 Reverend Fields and his wife, Regina L. Fields, have a son Brian K. Fields, a daughter Tiffany L. Beckles and three grandchildren. 

 It has been a joy spreading the gospel to let the world know PSALM 27:1:  “The Lord is my light and my salvation; of whom shall I fear?  The lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
